Established in 1993

I apprenticed under Master Farrier Clint Appelt of Reno, Nevada in the early 90’s. Clint was my mentor and friend up until his death in 2020. I was so fortunate to have learned from Clint and I could never repay him for everything he taught me. He truly has earned his “angels wings” for all the horses he has helped throughout his 59 years of shoeing. His son, Josh, is also a very successful farrier in Reno.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and I am currently licensed as a professional engineer in the state of California. By having an engineering background, it has enabled me to have a different perspective of the equine anatomy and mechanical requirements of the horse.  Engineering and science have served as a foundation of my successful farrier practice.  I have attended several professional farrier clinics and equine lameness symposiums over the last few decades and stay abreast of the latest education and technology regarding equine hoof care.  I have shod performance horses in Northern Nevada, San Diego, and the Eastern Sierra for the last 30 years with a strong emphasis on therapeutic treatment options that promote soundness. In addition to being a farrier, I rode and owned horses for over twenty years and competed in competitive team roping and western riding for approximately ten years.
